NIM Pays Maiden Visit to Kwara Poly


The Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM) recently paid maiden visit to the Kwara State Polytechnic to garner more members and seek the cooperation of Polytechnic Community.

The NIM team was led by Mr. J. O. Alabi, the zonal Chairman of NIM, North Central zone.
Addressing the management of the school, Alabi explained that since no organization can survive without the basic knowledge of management, it is therefore important for all the staff of any organization to join the moving train of the NIM.

Alabi, a chartered NIM, said the NIM decided to visit the school to seek the cooperation of the staff and students so as to create avenue for them to become part and parcel of the body.

To be a registered member of NIM he said, prospective members are required to write examination and pass them before they can become bonafied members.  He stressed that regular participation in conferences, lectures; seminars are important criteria for upgrading members on regular basis.

While highlighted some of the lined up events of NIM for the year, Alabi said already this year Annual Conference is already slated for September where heads will be put together on how to suggest ways of diversifying the Nigerian economy.

He lamented that over dependency on oil has done more harm to our economy than good.

Ayedogbon, (Chairman NIM, Kwara State Chapter), Alhaji Umar Abdul, CSO, NITEL Ilorin (ex – officio), Mall. A.K.A. Oladuntoye, Accountant UITH, (Assistant Secretary), paid Prince Otepola Adetoyese, Chief Mobilisation  Officer (NOA), (Public Relations Officer).

In his welcome address, Alhaji Mas’ud Elelu, Rector, Kwara State Polytechnic, expressed the gratitude of the management to the NIM for considering the school worthy of being part of areas slated for visitation.
The Rector, who is also a member of NIM stressed that the importance of partaking in NIM activities by management staff of any organization cannot be over stated.

Elelu explained that as a member who knows what it means to be a member of NIM will assist in sensitizing the Polytechnic Community towards becoming members of NIM.  The Rector advised NIM to take its time to study the various needs of organizations to ascertain what programmes or seminars to package for them.

He however advocated the involvement of student membership in the NIM schedule as a bedrock arrangement to foaster the progressive course of the NIM especially for the future ledders.  This according him will ensure continuity.
