 The Governing Council of the Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin has approved the promotion of one hundred and twelve Senior Staff of the institution who are due for promotion since 2008. The promotion which cut across the various institutes and departments of the Polytechnic was sequel to the consideration of the report of the Appointment and Promotion Committee (A&PC) by the council during its 159th Regular Meeting held on Wednesday, 26th August, 2009. Consequently, the council also approved the promotion of ten junior staff who are due for promotion to senior staff since 2007. The promotion is part of the Council’s welfare package for the staff of the institution in order for them to be more productive in the discharge of their duties. The Council however urged the newly promoted staff to make transparency and hard work their watch word. In a related development, the council has also approved the ETF study leave both on full-time and part-time basis for twelve staff of the institution from different departments. This also followed the careful consideration of the recommendations of the Appointment and Promotion Committee which was headed by the Rector of the institution, Alhaji Mas’ud Elelu. This the council disclosed will assist the staff to improve and widen their horizon. Furthermore, as part of its effort to make working and learning more conducive for both staff and students, the council also provided portable water for all offices and staff quarters, while provision was also made at all the student hostels. This they said will help solve the problem of water being faced by the staff and students. Also solar energy powered street lights to be handled by the Institute of Technology (IOT) of the institution was also approved by the council. This will help beautify the school and help reduce costs being spend on diesel and PHCN.
